The Galeras volcano is the most active volcano in Colombia. The first eruption was dated December 7th 1580. The latest eruption was in 1993 which killed 9 people including six scientists. Throughout the years since the deadly eruption there have been other eruptions that have only caused a dust of ash on the villages around Galeras. Other than having to evacuate 8,000 people in 2010, there have been no deaths.
